Try all three. For no reason whatsoever I tried copying to a brand new disc just one more time before I re-installed the drivers and it worked! At one stage Windows did have issues with file copying speed, even from hard drive to hard drive. If so, that means the external drive is probably going bad. Just disable any mounted drives on your computer... That should solve the problem. - If the files were near the outer edge of the disc they should have copied faster.

TeraCopy is free, unless you want the paid-for pro version. i can not only tell by the copying speed, but when ripping/burning at 8x or slower, the drive is quiet. Click on deletion . doesnt even have an option for drive read speed.
You may have to go into DOS and rename the file there if you are unable to do so in Windows. Well, one advantage of logging in with admin rights is, that you can read other users files..... You said it's Mac compatible but you did not state how it's formatted! Do I need to use Nero?
