On the other hand, if you have a faulty USB connection, then the iTunes method will not be possible and you'll have to use iCloud instead. Time to ditch it, is there a way of getting another media player to work on an iPhone? The way that USB and/or PCI devices are enumerated and configured, I could in theory have a different driver for each different device instance.
