I would suspect that it is unlikely that a warm PSU could increase the temperature of the CPU, which feels warmer, the CPU heatsink or the PSU? if you touch the PSU, is it warm to the touch? So yes, it's quite normal for a PSU to get warm. I'd say just RMA it if you can(it has a freakin 5 year warranty, it's probably sitll possible).

An adapter that hot is a warning sign that something could be wrong with the adapter or the laptop. Monitor the temperature of the adapter for a while and if it becomes hot again, take the laptop and power adapter to a computer repair shop and have them check it.
